The Principal of YOHI starting in November 1947 to the summer of 1949 was Captain Loren McCartney.  

Lt Col McCartney attended the "BLUFF" YOHI Reunions in 1988, 1990 and 1992.   He died in 1993. In his memory the 1947-1952 "Bluff" Group supports Nile C Kinnick High School with an annual Student Scholarship.   

His wife, Pearl, survives him - she, along with other early era alumni made a 50th anniversary visit to Yokohama in October 1998.

The school flag in the 1940's is as shown on this page.  However, it is not known if that tradition continued over the years as the school moved from one phase of it's history to another.  Also it is not known what happened to that original flag.
