FAVORITE TEACHER

Mr. Burrill (speech & drama) .

HUMOROUS (depends) EXPERIENCE

Road trips during football games that probably gave inspiration to some of the scenes from "Animal House."

SECRET CRUSH/ES

Anyone who was the object of my affection eventually knew about it!

FONDEST MEMORY

Beating Kubasaki for the 1968 Far East Basketball Championship.

SADDEST MEMORY

Losing to Johnson in the 1969 Far East Basketball Championship game after blowing an 8 point lead and fouling out with 1:30 left.

YOHI IMPACT ON MY LIFE

I didn't realize it while there, but Yo-Hi was one of the formative experiences in my life. While all hell was breaking loose in the states in the late '60's, we (Caucasian, African-American, Asian-American) were actually living together as people should with respect, admiration and a whole lotta love!

BEST FRIEND NOT YET "FOUND"

Darryl Nelson, Bruce Watt, Cyndee Anderson (attended Yo-Hi '66-'68).

BEST FRIENDS AT YOHI

Paul Hoerr, Darryl Nelson, Bruce Watt.

BEST FRIENDS IN CONTACT WITH

Laura Stephens Schisler (and others occasionally).

FAVORITE SONGS

There were so many! After all, that's when they really knew how to write music. Maybe Jimi Hendrix's "Fire".

CLASS ADVENTURE

Jr. Class trip to Nikko; I think they canceled any class trips for quite a while after ours!

POST SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

EDUCATION

B.A. Hope College, 1974; Master of Divinity, Western Theological Seminary, 1978 .

OCCUPATION

Clergy.

SPOUSE

Jean (did not attend Yo-Hi; met her in college).  She is  a Clinic Aide in the local school system.

  [FAMILY]

 RESIDENCES

Holland, MI; Kalamazoo, MI; Dublin (Columbus), OH .

 ODDS AND ENDS

I suppose that my life would fall in the "truth is stranger than fiction" category. Few of my contemporaries while I was at Yo-Hi would have predicted that I would one day be a minister. Perhaps it proves that God always gets the last laugh!
