THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

When General Douglas MacArthur stepped off his aircraft on to Japanese soil at Atsugi Air Base (US Naval Air Station) on August 30th, 1945, he was the first trickle in what would become a wave of thousands of US and allied occupation troops, later followed by their families.

This web site is dedicated to document memories and adventures American children attending school in Japan experienced during those wonderful years immediately following WW II.

We were "Seniors" at Yokohama American High School in Yokohama, Japan 1947-1948. Our school later was renamed Nile C Kinnick High School and still exists today - but at Yokosuka, Japan, having moved there in 1971.
