Named in honor of  Gen Harry Taylor, USMA Class 1884, Chief Engineer, AEF WW I, Chief Corps of Engineers U. S. Army.

Taken over by the Air Force in 1961, renamed the Gen Hoyt S Vandenberg,   and converted to a missile ship: T-AGM10.

July 64 re-acquired by the Navy for MSTS.

Sold and scheduled for use in the Florida Keys as a man made reef.
