MEMORIES OF ONE TRIP ABOARD THE GENERAL BUTNER

The pictures were taken from November, 1950 through January of 1952. Those were the 13 months that I was aboard the Butner. I picked her up at Mare Island, CA., just after outfitting, we were loading ships stores.
We sailed from the west coast to Korea to Bremerhaven, Germany.
The Skipper brought the Butner out of drydock at Mare Island in November 1950. Captain Dale E. Collins [shown] was replaced by Capt. Chas. R. Khoury In May ''51, Khoury was replaced by Capt. Mayer in June '52, Mayer was replaced by Capt. Brennaman in June '53, Brennaman ws replaced by Capt. Gibbs in May '54. |

The group on the Bremerhaven pier is the Keystone Division from Pennsylvania being welcomed by General Eisenhower, he is the one in the camel coat to the left of the bunch on the reviewing stand above the 28 Inf. sign.
