Former names were BRESLAU, LARKSPUR.

The German vessel BRESLAU was seized in 1917 and used by the U. S. Navy as a destroyer tender.  In WW II she was converted to a hospital ship and renamed the LARKSPUR.

Converted in 1946 to carry "dependents" [352 adults and 182 children] and renamed BRIDGEPORT.
