RED DEVIL

IMAGES

The "devil" image has been our cherished symbol of courage and strength from the very beginning of our school. Everyone is extremely proud of "our devil" and believes that it embodies the "SPIRIT OF YO-HI". We were proud of it then, and now! Every time we saw it we were stimulated to do our best on behalf of our school, our classmates, and ourselves. "GO DEVILS"!!!!!!!

We are well on the way of documenting the "official" devil images that appeared at school while alumni attended. Those wonderful images will be in our hearts and minds forever.

While attending school, some alumni created images that were never made "public", or subsequently they drew "devil" or "devil related" images for a variety of reasons - use on "T" shirts, book covers, stationary, etc....... and it is desirable to document them as well -- here. Some images in this category are already displayed elsewhere. However, we are in possession of other images that you might have interest in, thus are placing them here for your benefit. If you have one you would like to share - send it along.

Timothy's images were created in August 1999 and presented as a gift to the Web Site. They are truly unique, as were two he drew for the school back in the 70's -- which are displayed on the Devil History Page. Probably the most impressive in this collection is the one in the upper left. It has that "official" look - strong and courageous, - has a mean yet friendly face -- a more traditional American version. He calls it Vin Hama. The name Vin is short for Vinnie. Vinnie the name of a comic book character, who was a devil all in red, but never made it "big". Probably few remember him. Vin is a nice way to kind of bring back that old red devil. Hama is of course short for Yokohama.

[Actually he looks exactly like Lt. Larry Glaab, the "coach" who started the "Red Devil" image at YO-HI back in 1947.]
