QUESTIONS NEEDING ANSWERS
|
Want to be a part of history? Here is your chance! Listed below are
questions which represent significant areas of our history that are not (well) documented
- and we need answers to them. Additionally, other areas where you can assist
by providing material items are listed - such as yearbooks, pictures, or other
memorabilia. If you can't completely answer a question - tell us what you
know, or tell us what you can do to assist.
SCHOOL NAME CHANGES |
We know that in 1959 a Board of Navy Officers selected from a list of
nominations, the name Nile C Kinnick Jr to replace the name of the Yokohama American High
school. We need to know more about that process -- for example: What were the
other names nominated, why, by whom, and for what reasons? Why was it necessary to
change the name to start with -- it didn't move from Yokohama to Yokosuka until 1971?
With the renaming of the high school, the historical name of the Nasugbu Beach Elementary School at the same location was also changed. Who, what, why, how? Additionally, at the same time, Negishi Heights elementary school was re-named Adm Richard Byrd. What was the process here that resulted in this change and loss of another historical name, why, by whom? |
CLASS |
We are desirous of showing a picture of Class Rings. It is believed that each class had a class ring. If you have a YOHI class ring and it is not now on display, we ask you to: 1) loan us your ring so that we may take a picture of it; or 2) you take it to a local photo shop and let them take a picture - in magnified format - and sent to us for uploading onto the web site. |
NEET-NAC (or other "Teen Club") Y-TAC |
The first "Teen Club" was called the Neet-Nac. We know
there were two "Neet-nac" facilities - the original Teen Club "on the
bluff", a later one "on the beach", and perhaps others. What
years did the "Neet-nac" exist "on the bluff" - we know it existed
there from 1947 through 1952 - did it exist longer? We know the
"function" of that facility moved to the "beach" but don't know what
year or what building it move into? After it moved to the "beach",
what happened to the original facility "on the Bluff"? Until what
year did it operate as a Teen Club "on the beach" under the name
"Neet-Nac"? Was it always in one building on the "beach"?
What happened to the building it was in when NCK moved to Yokosuka in 1971?
Was the "Teen Club" on the "beach" also referred to as the YTAC
- Youth Teen Activities Club, or Yokohama Teen Activities Club or ?????? What
happened to the Nee-Nac Guest Book? It appears that while there was a "Teen Club" at the "Beach" location in Yokohama with some title, there was also a "Teen Club" at Yokosuka - perhaps called the Y-TAC - Youth Teen Activities Club, or Yokosuka Teen Activities Club, or ? It apparently started out as a small facility, and later expanded or moved to a larger facility. We have NO pictures of the "Teen Club/s" on the "beach" or in Yokosuka - do you have one? |
MAPS |
Do you have a map (sketch, drawing, aerial photograph, etc) of any type of any area of Yokohama / Yokosuka? Take a look at the "MAPS" section of the Table of Contents Page and see what we have. Any fragment of information you have which would provide more detail, fill in the gaps, or correct sketches would be appreciated. |
| YEARBOOKS | YOHI (YOKOHAMA HIGH / NILE C KINNICK): Can you loan us your
yearbook for a few days, or send us a "Xerox" copy? We need them for
Classes: 76, 77, 78, 80, 81, 82, 83, 85, 90, 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98, 99. 00, 01.
It is our objective to review the books for historical information (text and
pictures), and insert selected data and pictures into the web site. Nasugbu Beach Elementary School: If this school had separate Year Books - not included in a higher level book - do you have a year book you can loan or send a copy.
Camp McGill Elementary School: If this school had separate Year
Books - not included in a higher level school - do you have a year book you can loan or
send a copy. |
