1940's DEVIL IMAGES
The first Yo-Hi yearbook, 1948, had two devil versions depicted: Devil 1 in the illustration was a large image that fronted the athletics section of the yearbook and is the first-ever depiction of a Yo-Hi devil head image; Devil 2 was a small standing devil used as a decorative graphic in the athletic section of that same book. Devil 3, is a version of the standing devil and was sewn on the sleeve of the 1948 letterman's sweater. Devil 4 is from a football game program cover dated 20 Nov 48 -- the game was with the Narimasu HS Dragons at Lou Gehrig Stadium in Yokohama (Yo-Hi won 14-0). Devils 5, 6, and 7 -- 1949 yearbook -- Devil 5 was a large image used on the title page to the athletic section of that yearbook. Devil 8 was on the "place cards" at the 1948-1949 Football Dinner / Dance. |
