The stair to the upper story is curved. This was not a merely ornamental feature but an arrangement intended to enable a person ascending the stair to avoid bumping his head on the edge of the small opening in the upper floor. the second floor consists of a very small, two-mat room with windows on three sides looking out on the wooded hillside and the garden below.
