A MESSAGE FROM THE POST COMMANDER As Post Commander I extend to you a most cordial welcome to Camp Zama. Located 18 miles west of Yokohama and 25 miles southwest of Tokyo, Camp Zama has a fine year around climate. Publicized as "Headquarters of the Army Forces Far East" and "The Little Pentagon", we feel justified in saying that Camp Zama is the most beautiful Army installation in Japan. On the post we have a superb golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, service club, bowling alleys, craft shops, library, theater, post exchanges, snack bars, Officers' and NCO clubs and a continuing program of spectator sports. Sagamihara, our main Dependent Housing Area, is little community with an excellent school, theater, post exchange, snack bar, commissary and library. We want you to know, whether you are arriving here for permanent assignment, temporary duty, or just visiting, that you are very welcome.
