SKILLS

This is another extremely important area in the selection process for the RT, but we consider it inappropriate to prepare a list of 'skills' and personal character traits that we think would be required in order to qualify.  Nor are we going to develop some kind of rating scheme to place a value on such items.    We are going to make decisions on what we know about you now and what you tell us in your application of your experiences in life ........... Obviously, explanation of achievements would be very descriptive of you skills.

However, we do want to mention that your 'people skills' are one of the major issues -- your ability to communicate effectively with others, but we are not going to conduct any testing either.

You have seen the site, and from that you already know or have a very good idea what skills are expected of you.  If you feel you don't possess them sufficiently ALREADY or you can not devote the time and energy and personal funds to do the job, don't apply.

Generally speaking, alumni who have been out of high school for 30 years have had an opportunity to develop sufficient 'skills' and are in a stable enough position in life to begin thinking about taking on a project of this magnitude so it can proceed without interruption.........   They have been exposed to and witnessed the requirements of raising a family and making a living and know first hand how things work and don't work, and how to make changes to obtain the best results.  The older you are the more exposure you have had in many areas, however; very few have had any experience with the management of web sites.

On the other hand, the older alumni are less likely to be in a position to continue with the site for an extended period of time -- which is our desire -- thus stability and continuity would be at risk.  That is the exact reason in which we are attempting to find an RT under the conditions cited.   Older alumni will put the site at 'risk' of a change in owner/manager ship in the immediate future and that is NOT a good thing, and unacceptable.

Oh boy, we are going to be accused of discrimination again, but these conditions  simply must be stated -- and understood by everyone as one's age is going to be an indication of skill qualifications, or over qualification, and will be given some weight in the consideration process.

You of course must possess the skills to use all the equipment and software mentioned here in.  The web site is NOT a place to develop your skills, you must already possess them when you apply.
