FUTURE

The time has come to step off the Yohi journey and let it proceed into the future as it surely will.   We are pleased that it will continue to evolve and incorporate more alumni as the years go by as explained below.

Iva and I wish to thank the multitude of alumni who assisted in the creation of the 'Yohi Home Town' and made it possible for thousands to relive the great adventure of being a 'brat' in Japan.

What great medicine it has been for us.  Thanks for the memories!

Sayonara.

*   *   *   *    *   1 JULY 2006 UPDATE   *   *   *   *    *

With great pleasure we announce that the best possible solution to the 'Replacement Team' issue that has been with us for a while has been solved, and the future of this website is secure.  Effective 1 Jan 2007, Jan and Bill Sims become the new OWNERS / MANAGERS, and Iva and I retire.

Between now and then the following actions will take place.

* All files now belonging to the existing  website [some 8,400 of them] will be reviewed, edited, compressed, altered, and reloaded [or removed] to facilitate better access and viewing ........ This process will be performed on a schedule to insure the temporary non-availability of some pages will be kept to the minimum.

* Some 3000 files on the CD -- like 9 complete yearbooks [1948-54, 62, 65], huge Yokohama maps, and other historical items that were never installed on the website for a number of reasons, will now be installed on the site.

* Jan and Bill will begin the development of a new design for the website to conform to their ideas and at the same time incorporate advances in technology to modernize the site.

* Any new material received from alumni will continue to be posted to the site.

* Funding to support the server expense for the website is paid through April 2008, and in the case of the domain name to 2012.

* Effective 1 July 2006 Jan has re-joined us on the website team as 'Ass't webmaster'.

Two of the above special KHS Kokoshi Doll were presented in June 2006 to the 'Alumni Community' and 'Website' by the outgoing Principal, Ms Wright, in recognition for support of the school by all alumni.

FROM JAN AND BILL

It is with a great deal of excitement that Jan and I have agreed to become the new caretakers of the Yo-Hi web site. The historical value of the information that Jim and Iva have compiled cannot be measured. They have set the bar extremely high and one of our goals is to maintain or exceed those high standards.

Between now and 1 Jan 2007 we will plan the transition ownership of the site to us. This transition should be fairly transparent to all of you. Once that transition is complete we will begin working through the site, a section at a time to put a new and exciting face on it.

We hope to hear from all of you about what you would like to see on the sight. We can't promise that we will be able to do it all, but we will certainly consider and implement as many of your ideas as we can.

Bill Sims (c/o 1968) & Jan Bready-Sims (c/o 1970)

The future of this web site, and the CD, is in doubt!

Iva and I, as the founders, owners and principle managers, feel the time has come to advise and consult alumni directly about the future of this web site, and the CD.  With advancing age, health problems, and our concerns about our ability to continue our duties, a decision is now needed to determine if this web site and the accompanying CD are to continue into the future or not.

Relevant facts are:

1 – Our previously announced plans that would have allowed this project to continue into the future were based upon inadequate foresight on our part, and have now been determined to be unrealistic.  Thus, contrary to promises and statements we made, there is NO plan now in existence that will permit this site to continue into the future.

2 -- Since this site was developed for and by the alumni, it is felt they should be given an opportunity to participate in the decision about it's future.

3 – Thus, unless a REPLACEMENT TEAM [RT] of alumni can be established that will accept the risks of owner / managerial ship, this site will be removed from the internet and destroyed by the end of 2007 [date changed from 08 to 07 in Jul 05].

4 -- A decision as to the availablility of the Yohi World CD beyond that end date has not been made, but will be announced here later.

What follows is detailed information as to how and why we are at this point, and explains the major issues which you must be aware of and understand if you desire to be a part of the solution process.
